Introduction
This tour is a combination of wildlife and cultural experiences. The tour will start with a drive to
the giraffe Centre. Here guests will experience first-hand work done in conserving the Rothschild’s
giraffe species through inbreeding and release to the wild when deemed ready. You will also get a
chance to feed the giraffes on an elevated platform. The guides at the Centre will provide you with
all the necessary information on the species and the Centre itself.
Next stop will be at the David Shedrick Elephant Trust, another rehabilitation Centre for orphaned
elephant calves and rhinos. The viewing is restricted to a one-hour experience from 1100-1200hrs
where the calves are let out to relax and feed.
From here we head to Karen Blixen museum, located in Karen. We’ll get to experience the life of
Karen Blixen and also get to see some of her works collected and archived here. This will be a
brief stop and we’ll continue to Kazuri Beads/Curio shop where guests can see and purchase the
different curios from the various Kenyan communities. The curios have symbolic meanings and
guests can learn from the curators at the Centre.
