How This Group Joining Safari Works
A Land Cruiser leaves Nairobi for the Masai Mara every single day of the year. You book a seat, choose your camp from 22 partner properties across the reserve, and join the next departure. No minimum group size. No waiting for a fixed date.
The group joining model means you share the vehicle and game drives with other travellers — but not necessarily the same lodge. Each client independently picks their accommodation from the table below. Your seatmates may sleep somewhere different from you. The Masai Mara game viewing is identical regardless of camp choice.
⚠️ Park fees are not included. They are paid separately — directly at the gate (cashless: M-Pesa, Visa, Mastercard), or Wild Springs can collect them on your behalf. Non-residents paying through our office: settle in USD or at the prevailing park exchange rate.

Itinerary — Day by Day 🗓️
Day 1 — Nairobi to Masai Mara
07:00 — Depart Nairobi. CBD or Westlands pickup. The drive southwest covers approximately 270km via the Narok road, descending the Great Rift Valley escarpment with a viewpoint stop where the full valley floor opens in a single frame before the plains take over.
Arrival at the reserve in the early afternoon. Entry through Ololaimutia or Sekenani Gate depending on your camp. First game drive: 16:00 to 18:30. Late afternoon in the Mara is when predators are most active and the golden hour light on the red oat grass is at its finest. Elephants move toward the river. The first lion sighting on a Masai Mara budget safari lands differently in person than any photograph prepared you for.
Return to camp. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 2 — Full Day in the Reserve
06:00 — Full day game drive. Packed breakfast and picnic lunch. The vehicle does not return to camp until late afternoon.
The full day covers the reserve's primary circuits: the Mara River corridor with its hippo pods and Nile crocodile sandbanks, the Musiara Marsh elephant herds, the open plains where cheetah families hunt in the morning, and the woodland margins along the Talek River where leopards rest in the acacia canopy.
July to October: The Great Wildebeest Migration — over 1.5 million wildebeest and several hundred thousand zebra crossing from Tanzania's Serengeti — makes the Mara River the site of one of the most dramatic wildlife events on earth. Your guide tracks the herd positions and positions the vehicle accordingly.
Return to camp by 18:30. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 3 — Breakfast and Return to Nairobi
No game drive on Day 3. This is a travel day.
Breakfast at camp. The vehicle departs the reserve by 10:00 — exiting before an additional park fee period triggers. Drive back to Nairobi via Narok. Arrive mid to late afternoon.

Can I book as a solo traveller?
Yes. A Land Cruiser leaves every day. You pay a single-seat rate for your chosen camp and join other independently booked travellers in the same vehicle. There is no minimum group size to confirm a departure.
Do all passengers stay at the same camp?
No. Each client independently selects their accommodation from the 22 partner camps. You share the vehicle and game drives. Your camp is your own choice from the pricing table above.
Is there a game drive on the morning of Day 3?
No. Day 3 is a travel day. The vehicle departs the reserve by 10:00 AM after breakfast. Travelers who want a final morning game drive should extend their stay by one night — contact us at booking.
When does the Great Wildebeest Migration happen?
The most dramatic Mara River crossings occur between July and October when over 1.5 million wildebeest and several hundred thousand zebra move north from Tanzania's Serengeti. This is also when park fees are higher and camp rates increase from July 1. Outside this window, resident Big Five — lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, and buffalo — are present year-round.
Can I extend to a 4-day or 5-day Masai Mara safari?
Yes. One, two, or three extra nights are available. Contact Wild Springs at booking with your preferred extension. The daily vehicle network makes a 4-day or 5-day Masai Mara safari from Nairobi straightforward to arrange.
When do high season Masai Mara safari prices apply?
High season rates take effect from July 1, 2026. Both camp accommodation rates and KWS park fees increase. Booking before July 1 locks in the January to June rates shown in the pricing table above. The July to August window coincides with the peak migration crossing season — the most sought-after wildlife experience in Kenya.
