How much does it cost to climb Mount Kenya? A guided Point Lenana climb costs from about US$430 per person on a budget public-transport trek, and up to US$1,250 for a fully private 6-day expedition with your own guide, cook and crew. Kenyan residents pay from about KES 25,000 per person. Every price already includes KWS park fees and government taxes. Your final figure depends on the route, the number of days, your group size, and whether you choose a private, group-joining or public-transport departure.

"solo" is one climber travelling alone. "pp 2+" is the price per person when two or more climb together. Group Joining is per person on a shared departure date and includes private, comfortable transport (not public matatu).

Resident group-joining rates for 3, 4, 5 and 6-day treks are quoted on request. Ask us and we will confirm the figure in writing.
A note on our prices. Every package above is all-inclusive of KWS park fees, government taxes, the new gateway fee, the park access fee and all convenience fees - no surprises at the gate. Prices are reviewed once a year and are tied to government taxes: if those taxes rise we adjust accordingly, and if they fall we revise our prices down. Your written quote is always the final, guaranteed price.
A 50% deposit confirms your place on the climb, and the balance is due 14 days before departure. We keep every departure small, with a maximum group size of 8 trekkers, so the guiding team stays close to each climber on summit night.
We accept bank transfer, card and M-Pesa. The payment details are sent to you only in your written invoice from our office, never on this page and never over social media. If your plans change, our cancellation policy sets out exactly what happens to your deposit and balance.

Not everyone wants to summit. A one-day hike through the Chogoria gate to the Nithi Falls and Lake Ellis is a stunning forest-and-moorland walk with no altitude push.

You can climb Mount Kenya all year round, and our prices stay the same across every season. For the clearest skies, driest trails and best summit views, the two prime windows are January to early March and June to October. The wetter months still summit well with the right gear, and are quieter on the trail.
Group camping equipment is always provided. For your personal kit - boots, a warm sleeping bag, an insulated jacket, waterproofs, a headlamp and trekking poles - you do not need to buy expensive gear for a single climb. Wild Springs runs its own outdoor gear shop in Nairobi, so you can hire quality equipment and pick it up in one place before you set off. Ask us for the current hire list when you book.
Tips are not included and are entirely at your discretion, but they are customary and hugely appreciated by the guides, cooks and porters who make your climb possible. As a rough guideline, many climbers budget around US$10 to US$15 per climber per day for the whole crew, pooled and shared at the end of the trek. Give what feels right for the service you receive.
