Itinerary Summary
Day 1: Nairobi to Old Moses Camp (Sirimon Route)
Morning (7:00 AM): Depart from Nairobi by road, heading towards Mount Kenya National Park (approx. 3-4 hours).
Afternoon: Arrive at Sirimon Gate (2,650m). After registration and a briefing, begin your trek through the montane forest.
Late Afternoon: Arrive at Old Moses Camp (3,300m). Settle into your mountain hut, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the days ahead.
Distance: ~9 km | Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Day 2: Old Moses Camp to Shipton's Camp
Morning: After breakfast, commence your ascent through the striking Mackinder’s Valley. The landscape gradually transitions from moorland to afro-alpine, offering panoramic views.
Afternoon: Arrive at Shipton's Camp (4,200m), nestled beneath the towering peaks of Batian and Nelion. Enjoy dinner and rest.
Distance: ~14 km | Hiking Time: 6-7 hours
Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Shipton's Camp
Morning: This crucial day is dedicated to acclimatization. After a leisurely breakfast, embark on a short acclimatization hike towards Kami Hut or Simba Col (around 4,500m). This "hike high, sleep low" strategy significantly aids your body's adaptation to the altitude.
Afternoon: Return to Shipton's Camp for a relaxed afternoon, allowing your body to recover and adjust. Your guide will provide a briefing for the summit push.
Distance: ~3-4 km (return trip) | Hiking Time: 2-3 hours (gentle)
Day 4: Summit Point Lenana & Descent to Nairobi
Pre-dawn (3:00 AM): Begin your pre-dawn ascent to Point Lenana (4,985m) under the starry sky. The climb is challenging but incredibly rewarding.
Sunrise: Witness a breathtaking sunrise from the summit, a truly unforgettable moment.
Mid-morning: Begin your descent via the Sirimon Route back to Sirimon Gate (or an alternative route like Chogoria, if preferred and pre-arranged), where your transport will be waiting.
Afternoon/Evening: Drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the late evening.
Distance: Summit push ~4-5 km | Descent ~15-20 km | Hiking Time: Summit & Descent ~8-10 hours
