Located Just 57 kilometers from Nairobi city, approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour drive. Towering 2,500 meters above sea level (8202 Ft), Kereita Forest rewards you with mesmerizing views and a delightful 12-kilometer trail leading to spectacular waterfalls. Kereita Forest is more than a hike; it's a trek through history. This Forest, which is currently under the Kenya Forest Service, bears a connection to Kenya's struggle for independence. The intriguing name "Kere-ita," meaning "Armed People" in Kikuyu, stems from stories of fierce warriors hiding within the Forest during times of colonial War in Kenya. Hence, among the war heritage sites in Kenya. For Instance, the Voi War monuments and heritage sites. The Lari Massacre of 1953 left an indelible mark on the landscape, with unmarked mass graves, some of which are still visible today.
