Gently used · KES 10,500 · Men's EU 44.5 / UK 10 / US 10.5. The Merrell Accentor 2 Mid Ventilator is a breathable suede-and-mesh hiking boot with ankle coverage, an Air Cushion heel and 5 mm lugs. It is made for warm, dry days on the trail, and it is not a waterproof boot: Merrell lists a breathable mesh lining and no waterproof membrane for this version.

The upper combines suede leather with mesh over a breathable mesh lining. A protective rubber toe cap guards against rocks, and a bellows tongue helps keep sand, dust and small stones out.
A removable, contoured Kinetic Fit BASE footbed sits on a compression-moulded EVA midsole with a moulded nylon arch shank, and the heel has Merrell's Air Cushion for shock absorption and stability. The outsole has 5 mm lugs. It laces up in the traditional way, and Merrell lists no insulation.
In Kenya's dry seasons this is a comfortable boot for warm hikes such as our Ngong Hills ridge hike and the crater rim of Mount Longonot, where the bellows tongue and mid cuff help keep out the loose ash; gaiters help even more. Because it is not waterproof, leave it at home for wet-season hikes in the Aberdares and for climbs on Mount Kenya or Kilimanjaro, where cold, wet ground calls for a waterproof boot and, high up, real warmth. Our waterproof hiking boots are the better choice there.
This is not a winter boot. Mesh and suede let in air, and water too, and there is no insulation, so it is the wrong choice for rain, slush, snow or ice; take a waterproof boot instead. It is a good fit for warm-weather trips and dry autumn walks.
